Foundation is a datapack for Minecraft: Java Edition 1.21.11. Version 1.0.8, the "Paradise Lost" update, introduces over 300 new items (though many of them are very similar), 38 new biomes, three new dimensions (but one of them sucks), over 70 blocks and block accessories, 25 new structures, 19 armor trims, a dozen-odd paintings, an unlockable cosmetic system, an overhauled and extended progression tree, a handful of mobs, and a number of new game mechanics which is difficult to quantify due to the nebulous definition of "game mechanic," all without mods, plugins, or any knowledge of Java on my end, because screw that noise. It also rips out and fully replaces probably about half of the base game, reworks the trading system from scratch, politely asks phantoms to chill the hell out, and sticks an extra 128 blocks of depth on the bottom of the world, just to see what happens. It is not optimized whatsoever and may not even work on anyone else's machine, but I'm willing to roll those dice.

Disclaimer:

Foundation is a standalone pack. The upside is that you can run it as-is without installing anything else. The downside is that this means it isn't really compatible with anything else. Most client-side mods should work okay - we've had some issues with rendering mods like Sodium and Iris - but I can't guarantee anything. Though the number of bug reports I've gotten that turned out to be caused by Vanilla Tweaks suggests to me that it is not compatible with Vanilla Tweaks. Lithium has not yet caused any issues and improves pack performance quite a bit. Again, not required.

It's strongly recommended (read: more or less required) that Foundation be installed at world generation, otherwise you're likely to encounter some fairly unpleasant errors inlcuding, but not limited to: Ravenous Maws, Festering Blights, Inexplicable Noises, and Strange Visitations.

Due to the aforementioned lack of optimization, maximum safe occupancy is estimated at around 10-12 players. Due to the undermentioned wealth of moral ambiguity, running Foundation on a server that enforces signed chat reporting is asking for trouble from which my petty tampering with the report menu is unlikely to save you. Brennyn Sabar is not responsible if you chug a keg of moonshine and kick a guy into a circular saw and an impressionable youth rats you out and some guy you've never met in Sweden locks you out of your Minecraft account.

Foundation contains Cartoon Violence, Drug and Alcohol Use, Mild Language, Sprawling Hell-Caverns Filled with Teeth and Blood, Copious Urns and Plates, Self-Aggrandizing, Tenuous Theology, and Getting Kidnapped by Fairies and Drowned in a Peat Bog. This content is not yet rated by the ESRB and they won't return our calls.
